Two-stroke stem design with roll-hardened upper stem threads and specially hardened lower stem surfaces Grease on the upper stem threads is segregated from the system media, and the nonrotating lower stem has an up-and-down motion instead of a rotating up-and-down motion, which reduces the wear and tear on the packings on each stroke and reduces friction between the seat and head. Friction between valve seat and valve head is reduced.
